There are many organisations providing information and services to cyclists. Here are some you might find useful:

British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling as recognised by the UCI – the international federation for the sport. As such, British Cycling works across all levels and six disciplines of the sport (BMX, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross, Road, Track and Cycle Speedway), from providing the support and encouragement people need to get riding their bikes for the first time, to being home to the hugely successful Great Britain Cycling Team.

CTC, the national cycling charity, inspires and helps people to cycle and keep cycling. We work to protect and promote cycling to create a healthier, cleaner world, now and for the future. We believe that cycling is more than just transport; it makes you feel good, gives you a sense of freedom and creates a better environment for everyone. We encourage all types of cycling, on the road or off it.

We are the only organisation solely representing mountain bikers in the UK. We work to open new trails and keep access to existing routes, we do this by supporting volunteer trail work, cooperating with trail user groups, land managers and public bodies, encouraging responsible riding and trail building. We are a non-profit group, which is managed and facilitated by volunteers. We are funded entirely by our members and supporters.

Moving Forward is a Somerset County Council initiative to reduce congestion and pollution in Somerset by helping people to explore sustainable transport options. The website provides detailed information about all forms of transport in Somerset and beyond to help you understand your options, plan your journey and get support to try something new.

Sustrans makes smarter travel choices possible, desirable and inevitable. Sustrans are a leading UK charity enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day. Working with families, communities, policy-makers and partner organisations so that people are able to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys, with better places and spaces to move through and live in.
