Bristol Cycle Festival

Featuring nearly 50 events over 9 days, it’s a celebration of cycling, organised by volunteers and enthusiasts from the local community.

Bristol-Cycle-Festival 2They’ve got rides, talks, games, crafts, and films, ranging from family-friendly play sessions, to challenges for the toughest cyclist.

Highlights for 2013 include:

  • Traffic-free roads and city centre games for this year’s Carnivelo and Big Bike Spectacular.
  • Activities and Tour coverage all week at Roll for the Soul, the bicycle café on Quay Street.
  • The return of the legendary Vintage Velo, a spiffing retro bike ride.
  • The Dundry Drubber – ride four times up Bristol’s most fearsome hill.
  • An expanded programme of talks from academics, adventurers and artists.
  • A ride to a picnic on an organic farm in the beautiful Chew Valley.
  • Bike maintenance courses, from introductory to advanced.
  • New rides, including a trip up the tower at Blaise Castle, a tour of Bristol’s Hollywood connections, and an unreliable history of the Knights Templar.
  • A tandem weekend away on Devon’s Tarka Trail for visually impaired riders.

The Festival is staged with the support of Bike Week, Bristol City Council, Better by Bike and Lyons Davidson.
