Leading Bristol Cycle Trails Celebrate First Anniversary with Landmark Funding from Local Firm

On Tuesday 8th January 2013, two of the South West’s most popular cycle trails marked their first anniversaries by announcing a partnership with Avanti Bicycles through local cycling distributor, Paligap Ltd.

The Nova and Yer Tiz trails in Bristol are used by more than 12,000 cyclists each month – despite 2012’s bad weather.

Both trails, which take in some of the area’s most impressive scenery, were created by . The trails use a special hard-stone design so the involvement of Paligap, which is funding the upkeep of these routes, means the enjoyment of future cyclists are assured for many years to come.

David Lane, Managing Director of Paligap, said: ‘As a local company, we want to ensure Bristol’s world-class trails stay in top condition.  The trails are a magnet for people of all ages and abilities and provide valuable exercise and enjoyment.  Paligap, under our Avanti brand, will be putting money into trail maintenance for the enjoyment of all.’

Mayor - Ashton Court Cycle Trail 2013 7The launch, which took place at Ashton Court Golf and Cycle Centre, was attended by Mayor of Bristol and keen cyclist George Ferguson.  Mr Ferguson said: ‘It’s impossible to get bored of these routes, so varied is the mix of scenery and obstacles. It’s great to see this fantastic setting used for healthy enjoyable pursuits. The sheer numbers who have used the routes this year speaks for itself.’

With 300,000 people within a 30-minute bike ride of the site, visitors are encouraged to travel to the area on local bike-friendly routes. More information can be found on ’s interactive map http://map.1sw.org.uk
