The new trail in Leigh Woods will be opening in the next few weeks. Although it has taken a little longer than originally anticipated this is because we’ve added a few bits here and there, so it should be worth the wait!
Construction is almost complete, but the trail needs to be checked, signage installed and any tidying up done before the official opening. Please bear with us during this period, we’re almost there!
If you’re a user of the site, bear in mind that due to the recent wet weather, some of the newest sections of trail are taking a while to firm up and riding them in their current state could cause damage that will need to be fixed, which is bad for everyone. It would be really helpful during the next few weeks if everyone can keep off the trails.
If you’ve been up in the woods you might have noticed that where the trail crosses existing walking paths it is heavily shaped and landscaped in order to slow cyclists down before the crossing. This is because lots of walkers and families enjoy the woods on these walking trails and it’s important to make sure all users of the woods have a great time, not just cyclists. Please always be prepared to stop for other forest users and be friendly – the future of new trails across the country depend on all users having good experiences at existing sites.
