Lanhydrock Cycle Hub Update

Since receiving planning permission in January, work in the car park area has been going on for several months and progress has been impressive. Initial improvements to the existing car park area are complete and beautifully re-built Cornish hedges along Turfdown Road and at the new car park exit improve visibility and access, particularly for coaches.

Visitors using the car park will also see the footprint of the new café and cycle hire buildings emerge, as the walls rise from the foundations.  Restoration of the 18th Century carriage drive will also begin in the next few weeks, which will eventually become the new visitor entrance to the car park.

Early this month construction of the cycle trails will begin, following vegetation clearance earlier in the year. The work will include construction of a cycle skills area and will be completed by the end of the year. Please obey all warning signs and refrain from riding the trails so that they have time to bed in.

The National Trust will also be re-tendering the cycle hire opportunity at Lanhydrock. The team didn’t feel able to appoint based on the tenders received last time, so keep an eye on the or the website for further details.
