Interactive Map

Adventure Cycle Map continues to grow

Over the winter we’ve continued to add information to the interactive Adventure Cycle Map.

Cycle City Guides have been getting stuck in to Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’s 2,000km of cycle-legal rights of way. Unfortunately we don’t have the budget available to survey all 2,000km – otherwise nowhere else would get a look in! However, we can survey some of the best areas for cycling, and have concentrated on Purbeck and the area around Weymouth, Dorchester and up to Blandford Forum. Next on the list for Cycle City Guides is to survey North Wessex AONB in the spring.

We’ve also started listing cycle friendly accommodation. have been the first of the local Destination Management Organisations to get on board with this initiative, and uptake has been good. We hope other DMOs will follow suit and offer this opportunity to their members, as it should be a great resource for visiting cyclists to the region.

Accommodation providers can list themselves via the interactive map’s ‘Suggest a Facility’ link. We are operating an honesty system, in that providers must agree to meet set criteria that we consider ‘cycle friendly’. In addition, all accommodation providers listed on the interactive map must be a member of their local DMO.
