Countryside Mobility Scheme to host Outdoor Equipment Showcase

The Countryside Mobility Scheme is hosting an Outdoor Equipment Showcase event in on 10th February 2012 and hope to attract manufacturers and retailers of adapted cycling equipment to attend and demonstrate their products to members and partners. The Project is working with the Scheme to promote the opportunities offered by adapted cycles.

Working with a wide range of partners Countryside Mobility already has all-terrain mobility scooters and wheelchair accessible Wheelyboats available for hire at more than 20 countryside sites and visitor attractions across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Somerset. They also have a steady supply of new partner sites hoping to work with them next year and beyond.

They are beginning to look at expanding the scheme to include different types of manual and powered ‘off-road’ mobility equipment, with the potential to include adapted bikes and trikes. An important part of this will be service user involvement and testing to make sure that they are considering the right type of equipment.

The Countryside Mobility scheme is based on the principle of the town centre Shopmobility initiative, offering improved access, independence and freedom in the countryside for people with limited mobility living in and visiting the South West region. The scheme is run by Devon based charity Living Options Devon and is currently funded by the Big Lottery through the Natural England/Big Lottery ‘Access to Nature’ grant scheme. To find out more visit the website http://www.countrysidemobility.org/.

The event will be open to the public for free and promoted widely across the region providing an excellent promotional opportunity for businesses.

If you would like to exhibit or know of a business that might, contact Claire Stewart, E: or T: , for more details and a booking form.
