North Wessex Downs Trails now live!

Planning a visit to cycle in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is set to become a whole lot easier from today thanks to investment by the Rural Development Programme for England. A new project will be launched on Saturday 24 November at the new Bertie Maffoons cycle shop in Marlborough, with a guided ride for cyclists of all abilities.

Cycle City Guides, on behalf of , have just completed their survey of all 1480km of legally accessible off road cycle trail in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty across Wiltshire, West Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire. Information regarding the type of trail, including grading, descriptions, photographs, videos and management information can be found on the 1SW Adventure Cycle Map. It is intended to give people a choice regarding the type of experience they want. Whether you fancy a day out cycling with the family or a challenging cycling experience, this map has something for you.

The Adventure Cycle Map aims to bring tourism business benefits to the North Wessex Downs AONB throughout the year. Bicycle shops, hire outlets and cycle-friendly accommodation can all be found on the map. One such business, Bertie Maffoons Bicycle Co. has received support to develop the range of services they now offer, having moved to a larger premises on the Marlborough Business Park.

You are invited to come and find out more starting at 10 am on Saturday at Bertie Maffoons Bicycle Co. Unit 1, Glympton Court, Marlborough Business Park. There will also be an opportunity to take part in a free guided ride. Bring your own bicycle or try Bertie Maffoons new hire bikes. Please wear sensible outdoor clothing.
